Welcome to Hoosier Palomino Website.

This site was designed to update HPA and PHBA members on the palomino happenings in Indiana.  Our Show information and Stallion Futurity Auction.

July HPA Newsletter

Show season is well underway, hope everyone is having a great summer. Please remember we are having our auctions of your donated items. These auctions benefit the futurity fund.  These items can be most anything, tack to home décor. Our auctions in the past have been a huge success; they are a great time to get to know each other. We will have an auction at the September 1-3, 2007 show on Sunday, September 2. We will have an auction at the September 29-30, 2007 Futurity Show on Saturday, September 29. Please remember to bring items for the auction.

We are hoping to get more youth and their families to our shows by letting youth show FREE w/one paid Open class entry per day (office/computer/drug & stall/grounds fees apply). Please help get the word out to any youth you might know who has a yellow horse to show.

Our BBQ dinner will be held on Sunday, September 2 and will be a carry-in. Meat will be provided, please bring a covered dish to share. The September show will have an Amateurs sponsored cookout on Saturday night, the fee for dinner will be $3.00 a person. Their tentative menu is:

Hamburgers Hot dogs Brats Baked Beans Chips Desert

This will be an inexpensive meal, you can’t even go to fast food for this price nor have such wonderful dinner companions. Please plan on showing your support to our Amateurs. We also want to THANK our volunteer cooks for the evening, please show them your appreciation when going through the dinner line. They just jumped at the chance to cook for us.

Our Futurity show dinner on Saturday, September 29 will be catered by Cheyenne’s Restaurant (formally Rooster’s).

Our MWGC show is Labor Day weekend which should make for a well attended show. You can get more information for the Midwest Gold Challenge at the website:  http://midwestgoldchallenge.bravehost.com/2006_shows.html

Terry Furnish has volunteered to stalls this year, his phone #765-215-8397, e-mail TMFurnish@hughes.net. Please feel free to call Terry to reserve a stall or for more info on them.

Please remember that we will be having our fun classes again this year. There will be sign up sheets at the shows, and the classes might be announced early in the day or it might be a total surprise as to what you might be doing.

Our futurity show is September 29 – 30, 2007 at the Hoosier Horse Park in Edinburgh, IN. Enclosed is an entry form. Please use one entry form/horse. Feel free to make copies. Entry fees can be paid until the start of Saturday morning’s of show. Please mail pre-entries to:

Post Futurity News October 1, 2006

Our futurity was a big success even though the weather was not as cooperative. We had a lot of out of state folks come to show with us.  We really appreciate their support of HPA.  We were able to show the halter classes outside on saturday but had to move inside for the rest of the show. Hoosier Horse Park was extremely accomadating to our needs and opened the indoor for us at no extra charge.  Sunday the weather was beautiful.  We had a lot of very nice futurity horses and paid out over 10,600 total.

Saturday evening we had a great meal that was prepared by Rooster's Kitchen at the horse park.  We also had a short auction with John Harless donating another painted saw that was auctioned off.  Once again everyone had a great time.

We are making plans for our Year End Banquet.  We will be sending out information on that as we get if finalized.

Also,  we will be electing officers at the banquet. So everyone needs to attend this most important meeting.

Hoosier Palomino Newsletter September 9, 2006

Our Rainbow Futurity is shaping up to be a huge success. We have close to $8000 we are going to pay out. We will add 250.00 to each of the open weanling classes.  The non pro halter classes will remain as a jackpot class.  We are adding 800.00 to each to the original performance futurity classes, Longeline, 2 yr old, 3-4-5 yr old WP, Amateur WP, All Aged HUS, All Aged Barrels.  Entry Fees will be 60.00 in all these classes with 90% added back to the pot.

NEW FOR 2006

I have added a couple more events to the futurity for 2006. We are going to add 250.00 per day to a Rainbow SR Western Pleasure, it will run concurrent with the PHBA class and 250.00 per day to an All Aged Rainbow Trail, this will run separately if we have a split Jr & Sr Trail. The entry fee for these classes will be 30.00/day with 90% added back to the pot.

So if you have an off colored horse that has one palomino parent they will be eligible for these classes also. It will give us a chance to show case some of those SR horses plus those who excel at the trail.

Also we will have our open walk trot class that we will add $100.00/ day. Entry Fee will be 5.00/day  with 100% added back to the pot.

So there is a lot of money that you can win at the 2006 HPA Rainbow Futurity. So don’t hesitate because of high fuel prices, you can win your gas money back and then some. Get in your truck and come to Edinburg for the show.

June 2006 Newsletter:

The Memorial Day weekend show was a huge success.  We had 65 horses showing for Sat & Sunday and 57 on Monday.  That is the first "A" show in Indiana in a very long time.  Thanks to all for coming out and showing.  The weather was great.  We had a BBQ & benefit auction for Terry.  There were numerous items that were donated by members of the Henry Co Saddle Club, Staples N Stuff, CowPokes and HPA members.  Thank you to all for donating and bidding on these items.  The auction raised over 1600 for Terry.

The Midwest Gold Challenge Kick Off show was also at our Memorial Day show.  We had a lot of nominations for the challenge in 2006.  You can still nominate so if anyone didnt get nominated at the first show you can still get in at anytime, as long as you can get your 5 shows in.   For 2006 you have to attend 5 of 8 weekends at the participating states, so get nominated for those shows.  You can get more information for the Midwest Gold Challenge at the website:  http://midwestgoldchallenge.bravehost.com/2006_shows.html

There is a Cowboy Bronze that is going to be given away in 2006 to 8 lucky winners from each of the state's auction of the traveling plaque.  This bronze is a 500 value limited edition.  So if you are at one of the state's Midwest Gold Challenge show be sure to get in on the auction of the traveling plaque.

This is a great event that is starting to spread across the country.  The Southeast Gold Challenge is starting in 2006 for the states of AL, MS, NC, SC, Fl, NWFLA, GA, TN.   We are also planning the 24K Gold Extravaganza, a PHBA show for the eastern half of the US in Oct  2007. This show will be held at Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, Tn.   This will be a 3 day PHBA show along with saturday being designated as the challenge of the challenge day.   Stay Tuned!!
